It’s that time again – the New Year. It’s that time where most of us decide to jump on the band wagon and make changes in our lives. It is a great time to make changes because there is fresh new energy of the start of a brand new year. However, a lot of people tend to go about this in ways that do not set them up for success.
They decide to make changes out of what isn’t going right in their life or what they don’t like about themselves. They’re focused on fixing it or figuring out a way to make themselves do things they “think” they should be doing. In the beginning they may be motivated but it’s very short lived usually it just tends to lead to struggle and frustration.
Making this the best year of your life so far doesn’t require fixing anything or doing anything you don’t want to. It only requires two things – Setting your Expectations and Changing your Focus.
Setting your Expectations
Most people’s expectations (which are usually hidden) are around that’s it’s going to take a long time, it will be a lot of hard work, and it’s more than likely not going to be much fun. But they believe this it what you have to do in order to keep your resolutions or to reach your goal. These kind of expectations is why so many just give up or never even start.
Check your expectations. What do you believe about resolutions/goals/making changes to your life?
Your expectations are essentially beliefs. We all get to choose what we want to believe. If you want to have your best year yet then set your expectations that that’s exactly what you will experience. Choose to expect the best – expect that this is going to be easy and enjoyable, expect that it’s going to go better than you can even imagine, expect that you’re going to feel better than ever, expect that you’re going to get what you want.
Changing your Focus
Most people are mainly focused on what’s not working or a problem or whatever they think is wrong. What you focus on affects how you feel. And how you feel then affects what you do. So if you’re focused on something that feels bad, then you are either not going to do anything or do something that’s counter from what you are wanting to change.
Notice are you focused on what you don’t want or what you do what? Are you focused on needing to change & fix your life or are focused on feeling good and enjoying your life?
Changing your focus just requires that you focus on what feels good such as what you love about yourself and your life, who you want to be, how you want to live your life, on what you appreciate, things that bring you joy, etc.
Once you’ve you set your expectations and consistently change your focus towards what feels good, the rest truly and easily falls into place. Things will line up as if by magic, you will take inspired action which will feel like fun, you will become unstoppable and your life will become filled joy. It sounds so simple and that’s because it is – don’t choose to think anything else. Everything is as you choose to see it.
